BERNIE INAUGURATION MEME INSPIRES ART

It’s always nice when US politics inspires hope. Or at the very least, comedy. And such is the case with the Inauguration Bernie meme. Which has inspired everything from a deluge of handcrafted memes to the ability to put Bernie wherever you want. But Portland being Portland, we have to do it our way. And thanks to Mike Bennett, we’ve got the perfect Portland tribute: a reclaimed wood crafted cutout to commemorate this whole thing.

COMING OUT OF STEALTH: STACKPULSE

While it doesn’t happen as often as it used to, there’s always something uplifting about companies “coming out of stealth” around here. The latest is StackPulse, which calls Portland home. The reveal included an announcement of a $20 million venture capital round to complement $8 million raised previously.

TESTING A NEW WAY OF FOSTERING COMMUNITY DISCUSSION

We’ve got some great resources for the Portland startup community. There’s the Portland startups Slack, which is a great spot for quick questions or connecting with other folks. There’s the Portland startups Switchboard, a way of supporting one another in the community with Asks and Offers. But it feels like conversations about content, companies, and other startuppy stuff is still fragmented and distributed on a variety of social networks and platforms.
