WHERE DOES OREGON PERS INVEST?

If you follow the world of venture capital and private equity, you’re likely familiar with the concept of funds. They’re the folks who are doing due diligence, cutting checks to provide capital for companies, and actively managing a portfolio. What’s less obvious and murky is where those funds actually get the money they use to make those investments. Some of that money comes from a-whole-nother group of funds — often referred to as a “fund of funds” — that provide capital for venture capital and private equity funds to do their work. And one of those fund of funds is the Oregon Public Employees Retirement (PERS) Fund.

Apparently, Portland didn’t get the memo about startup stuff quieting down during the holidays. Because the beginning of December has two major pitch events taking place Pitch Oregon and TechfestNW Pitchfest. And that may be just the thing you need to shake yourself out of your tryptophan induced stupor.

PORTLAND LUNCH 2.0 WILL BE VIRTUAL BUT THE COMMUNITY IS REAL

While the pandemic has caused any number of hardships and hassles for folks, there are a handful of things that have become a bit easier in this fully remote world. Like throwing together virtual versions of events that often require far more logistics to pull off in person. With that in mind — and with so many folks expressing feelings of disconnectedness — I thought it might be a good idea to revive Portland Lunch 2.0 one more time before the end of the year.
